This is my father SSGT Leroy "Shorty" Mace, Ball Turret Gunner 359th BS, 303rd BG. Also shown is a portion of his mission log. He completed 46 combat missions over the ETO including flying in the Knockout Dropper on Black Thursday in Manning's crew, as well as flying in the Dropper on it's historic 50th mission. Dad is 94 years old today and still with us, and is the only surviving crew member of the Knockout Dropper.
