Yes by all means please post the V-mail you mention.if you wish to share. You may need to save it as a word document before posting. If the file doesn't want to cooperate you could try sending it to me as an attachment and I can post for you. Thanks for sharing such a special piece of your family history
As far as Facebook is concerned you don't need to find me. In the FB "search" window type "Second Schweinfurt Memorial Association" and it should take you there. It is a closed group so again you need to ask to join. I manage it also so if you want to do that great.
Another little aside in the small world category. Being a history buff and doing family history to the early days of Bedford Co. am I correct that your family linage may trace back to Bedford Co. also 1700's? For those of us who know... Indian Eve? I'm not related, but know the story.
Welcome Simon, You must be a relative of James and of course William. James has done a wonderful job of unloading some photos which I am certain you have seen already. Do you know if your family has ever made contact with Bocelli or any other family members of the crew? I sent some things to James on Friday. Has he shared them yet? I can also forward to you if you would like. Please accept my warmest welcome into our SSMA family. Did James tell you I am born and bred in central PA. Grew up in Bedford Co and now near State College (Penn State)
Our best news is that the Schweinfurt raid has been chosen to represent the 8th AF in the expansion of the National WWII Museum in New Oleans. The dedicaton of the new Boeing Pavilion will be Veteran's Day 2012. We would love to have you join us there. You can read more about this in our briefing letter posts here on the site. Please ask if you have any questions and let me know if ypiu want me to forward the same info I sent to James. My Dad was also in the 306th - 369BS. If you are on Facebook I have a site there also. Great to have you aboard
