Hello again Doug, I met Peter Newman a couple months back. He had been at Colorado State since 2002. He came here to Penn State to become the department head of our Recreation,Park and Tourism Management program. Perhaps you have had a chance to meet him there? Great person
Welcome Doug, to our SSMA network. We also have a group page on Facebook if that might interest you also. Most members here are family of the men who flew the Black Thursday mission. I have been searching to find if you had a relative who flew, but have not been able to determine that. I did learn that you are a history professor at Colorado State University so am hoping that you might want to make students aware of the sacrifices made that day by men of the 8th Air Force. Much of what you see here has been posted by family. If family are unable to post I make contact to secure permission before using any of their cherished photos or stories. Of course the exception to that would be official photos taken by Army Air Corps personnel of crews, planes, etc. Candid shots would remain the possession of the person who posted.
Our fathers have entrusted to us the mission of keeping alive the story of what transpired that fateful day. We are dedicated to that cause and are happy to have you help share our story. Please let me know if you have questions. If you do have a relative that participated please let me know.
Sincerely,
Sue Fox Moyer, educational director SSMA
reference assistant, Penn State University Libraries
