Hi Bill, Wanted to respond yesterday but was dealing with ice and no electricity. All is back to normal until our next storm. You are in luck. Next year's 306th reunion is in SAN DIEGO. That's probably about as close to you as it will ever get! Don't think specifics are there yet but check out the 306th site at :http://www.306bg.org
Their reunion date is usually in the first 2 weeks of October. There are also many photos, but unfortunatey are not labeled. Also look under leadership - Barbara Neal would be your contact for membership and to get on the mailing list. Also on the website is ECHOS - the 306 newsletter. Do you have a copy of FIRST OVER GERMANY, Russell Strong's history of the 306? Our family copy is at my mother's for the moment. I will check for info about your father when I'm there next.
You might want to make contact with John Noack here on the SSMA site. John was my Dad's pilot in the 369th. Dad was seriously wounded 10/14/43 and the rest of the crew was shot down early December of 1943. John is the only member of the crew still with us. He was in Stalag I from 12/43 until the end. You could also try J. David Noack, his son, also on the SSMA site.
There is also a 306 BG Museum site and the "Guestbook" tag is a place where NEXGEN folks post inquiries about their vets http://www.306bg.co.uk/gbook.html. The museum is maintained by the Franklin family. Their house was on the the road that the boys took when returning to base from town. Mr. Franklin was an impressionable youth at the time and has wonderful stories of all the boys his Mum gathered into their house for a "spot of tea" to enable them to return in a more respectable state!!!!!!!! He and his wife come to the reunions - what a joy they are.
Have you posted on the Army Air Force forums? Fred Preller's message board?
Hi Bill, Welcome to the SSMA network. Do you know Mike Faley? He said someone had interest in the 306BG so I told him to extend the invitation. My father was in the 369BS. His pilot is a member here on our site - John Noack. Hope you enjoy our site. The BLACK THURSDAY pin will remain with you unless/until you upload a photo. Please upload any pictures you may have or site a post. Please let me know if I can be of any further service
