AIRSHOWS 2010

As you remember we decided at the Dayton reunion that one of our initiatives would be to discover and plan ways to share our story at air shows around the country.  Please add information here  to give our members many opportunities to select around the country - and world!  I would like to suggest the World War II weekend at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum in Reading,  Pennsylvania  June 4-6, considered by many to be one of the best.  This year is their 20th anniversary.

  • For anyone attending the WWII Weekend in Reading, Pa. this year, make sure you stop at the Capital Wing of the Airman's Preservation Society's encampment right across the tarmac from the hangar. We would love to meet you and discuss ways we can network to increase membership in SSMA.

  • The 8th Air Force Historical Society is hosting veterans, their family members and their guests at the Willow Run Air Show in Detroit August 5 thru 8, 2010. The Itinerary, registration form and all other information can be found on the Mighty 8th web site: www.8thafhs.org. They are referring to it as "The Last Great Gathering of Fortresses and Legends".
  • The Collings Foundation "Wings of Freedom Tour" tours the country with a restored B-17, B-24, and a P-51 Mustang. The 2010 Tour is underway. You can go through the planes, and take a ride if you want. This is a good chance for the veterans and descendants to share living history together. Check out www.collingsfoundation.org for more information.
